AP

AP stands for Advanced Placement, which is the university preparatory course. The AP exam was held by the College Board in 1955 to give high school students access to college courses and to complete some of them ahead of schedule if they have the ability to do so. There are 22 categories, including 37 different courses.

That is why AP courses is the hardest when compared to IB courses and A-level courses. In the AP course, first year difficulty courses are usually calculus, physics, chemistry, economics, psychology, etc., but language classes such as French and Spanish will exceed the first year level difficulty, so students should choose carefully whether to take the second language course or not.

I hope students know that among the many ways to explore the university, the AP course is the best way to do it. It shows students the content and difficulty of the university course in advance. Let students adapt to the university and at the same time judge whether their chosen major is suitable for them, such as economics, psychology, computer science and so on.

Therefore, when choosing AP courses, we should keep in mind that it is better to less than overflow. Because the university admissions officer pays more attention to the students’ scores in the AP exam rather than the number. If the GPA is lowered because students apply for a lot of AP courses, it will affect the final offer!

AP International Diploma:

AP International Diploma is a worldwide recognized certificate awarded to students who excel in all disciplines. APID applies to all international students studying in high schools outside the United States, as well as to American students who want to apply to universities in other countries.

Students do not need to apply specially. The AP system will automatically award the award after judging that the student meets all the qualifications, and then the student can print out the diploma themselves.

APID can represent your outstanding performance in many fields. AP International Diploma requires students to get at least 3 points in four fields and total five AP exams. If you are able to meet the requirement, it proves that your academic ability is strong and not limited to one field.

Therefore, APID represents your outstanding learning ability, and you are a smart and excellent student. You will be able to get good grades in different fields when you go to college.

AP Capstone:
AP Capstone, and is divided into two parts, namely AP Seminar and AP Research.

AP Seminar and AP Research are both one-year courses, and students must complete the AP Seminar before they can continue with the AP Research. In other words, AP Seminar is a pre-course for AP Research. The College Board in the United States recommends that students finish AP Seminar in grades 10-11 and AP Research in grades 11-12.

But if you want to get the final AP Capstone Diploma, you also need to complete more than 4 AP courses with 3 points.

Students should note that since AP Seminar and AP Research are full-year courses that must be completed in school, therefore, not all schools will provide AP Capstone Diploma. Students in need can click on the website to check for themselves.
